The twisted column has centuries of precedent. Bernini used eight Solomonic columns — their helical twist rising six stories high — in the baldachin he built over the altar of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Before that, Byzantine architects twisted stone columns to suggest movement in sacred spaces. The spiral implied power and devotion. In a candle on your table, it implies something simpler: that whoever chose it has good taste.

The Twisted Taper Candle is hand-poured from 100% natural soy wax at our Orlando studio. Standing 25 cm (9.8 in.) tall and weighing 125 g, it's sized for standard taper holders and available in 10 colors — Ivory to Black — each individually poured and finished. Unscented, because the form is the point.

      FAQs — Twisted Taper Candle

What size is the Twisted Taper Candle?

The Twisted Taper stands 25 cm (9.8 in.) tall and weighs 125 g. It fits standard taper candleholders.

Is the Twisted Taper Candle scented?

No — these tapers are unscented. The sculptural twist speaks for itself. The natural soy wax carries a subtle warmth when burned, without competing fragrance. Ideal for dinner tables and settings where the visual form is the feature.

      How many colors are available?

Ten colors: Ivory, Beige, Dusty Rose, Blush Pink, Sage, Powder Blue, Lavender, Black, Moss Green, and Soft Alabaster. Select at checkout. The Twisted Taper pairs well with the Ribbed and Ombre Tapers in the same palette.

Does the twisted shape hold as the candle burns?

Yes. The helical twist holds its form throughout the candle's life as it burns from the wick downward. The spiral detail remains visible until the very end, catching light across its ridges as it shortens.

Is the Twisted Taper Candle made from natural wax?

Yes. 100% natural soy wax with a lead-free cotton wick. No paraffin, no synthetic wax blends — clean-burning soy, handmade in Orlando.

Can I use the Twisted Taper as a display piece without lighting it?

Absolutely. Many customers keep it unlit permanently — the sculptural form stands on its own. Placed in a simple holder on a shelf or mantlepiece, the Twisted Taper functions as a permanent sculptural object as much as a candle.

      • ✂️Trim the wickTrim the wick to 5 mm (¼ inch) before every burn. A trimmed wick gives a cleaner, steadier flame and prevents soot.
      • 🕯️HolderAlways use a proper taper candle holder that fits snugly. The holder must be on a stable, heat-resistant surface and catch any wax drips.
      • 🌬️DraftsKeep away from open windows, fans, and air conditioning vents. Drafts cause uneven burning, dripping, and excess soot.
      • ⏱️Burn timeTaper candles are designed for shorter burn sessions of 1–2 hours. Extinguish before the candle burns down to within 2 cm of the holder.
      • 🔥SafetyNever leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Extinguish completely before leaving the room.
How do I prevent my candle from tunnelling?

The most important step is the first burn. Let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the vessel before extinguishing — this sets the memory ring. If the candle tunnels from a missed first burn, a longer subsequent burn session and a candle warmer can help recover the pool.

Why is there white powder or bloom on my candle?

White bloom (frosting) is a completely natural characteristic of 100% soy wax. It happens when the wax recrystallises — especially in temperature changes. It does not affect burn quality or fragrance throw. It is actually a sign that your candle is made from natural soy, not a blend.

My candle is producing black soot — what should I do?

Soot is almost always caused by an untrimmed wick. Extinguish the candle, let it cool, and trim the wick to 5 mm before relighting. Also check for draughts — any air movement can cause an unsteady flame and excess carbon deposits.

Can I burn sculptural candles or will they melt out of shape?

Yes, they are fully functional. Sculptural candles are designed to be burned, though the form will gradually change as the wax melts. For display longevity, keep burn sessions to 1 hour. Place on a heat-resistant dish to catch any pooled wax and protect the surface beneath.

Are Votive candles safe around pets?

Yes. Our candles use phthalate-free fragrance oils, lead-free cotton wicks, and 100% natural soy wax — no paraffin, no toxins. As with any open flame, keep candles out of reach of animals and never leave burning candles unattended in rooms where pets are unsupervised.

How long will my candle burn?

Burn time depends on size. Small pieces (2–4 oz): 20–35 hours. Medium (6–8 oz): 40–60 hours. Large sculptures (10–14 oz): 60–100 hours. Keeping the wick trimmed and avoiding draughts will maximise burn time.
