The dripping candle was not incidental. It was a vanitas symbol — tempus fugit, time passing, life burning away. The dripped wax was evidence that the candle had been used, that light had been given, that something of value had been consumed. The most honest depiction of what a candle actually does.
The Hand Drip Pillar Candle inverts that logic. The drips are cast into the wax before the candle is ever lit — built into the form at the moment of pouring, not accumulated over time.
